| Insanity in New York City |
Wow! Let me say that again. Wow! I have never seen such an awesome display of muscle in all of my life. The competition at the WNBF World Championships (held in New York City this past weekend) was beyond comprehension. I feel extrememly honored just to have been a part of something of this magnitude. I spent most of the weekend re-attaching my chin to my face. I was in awe.
Above and beyond the top notch competition, the quality of the people was even better. I can't believe how many wonderful people I got the chance to hang out with. Spending the weekend with my mentor and close friend, Dr. Joe Klemczewski (and his beautiful wife Tracey) was worth the trip to New York alone. I learn something every time I talk to this guy and to have a whole weekend of it was a thrill.
Being on stage next to my fellow WNBF Team New England members, John McGowan and Wendell Webb was a blast. These guys are absolutely incredible bodybuilders and amazing human beings.
Being in the audience to cheer on Sheila, Ginnie, Ralph, and Melissa (all from Team New England) made me feel proud to be associated with these wonderful people.
I finally got to meet and compete with Angel Hernandez. We came up around the same time and being in the same weight class we have followed each others careers. It was funny when we met that we each expressed our interest in each others careers.
I am extremely thankful to my friends Matt (the slashmeister) Veimeister and Diane Drago. Diane was nice enough to take pictures of us and forward them to me (I didn't bring my camera). You can see some of them in the photo gallery of this site. They are a great couple and Matt was at his all-time best as he added size to his usual ridiculously shredded physique.
I also need to thank my buddy Darren Catalfamo for being my wingman the whole weekend. The dude drove both to and from New York in his truck and was there to take care of anything I needed. A true friend indeed! Thanks Man.
Thanks also needs to go out to Jeff and Bill at Nutty Nutrition. They have provided an atmosphere for me to be successful for the last 4-5 years. Thanks Guys!
No conversation about bodybuilding would be complete unless I thank Nancy Andrews. She has been a friend, mentor, example and an endless source of inspiration. I wouldn't be where I am without her guidance. Thanks again Nancy!
And, most importantly of all, I need to thank my family. Michelle (the reason I breath), Bobby, Shawn and Molly are my whole world. Thanks for all of your sacrifice. I love you! |
